One of my users with Outlook 2007, IE7, Windows XP SP2 is getting this error
when clicking on hyperlinks in emails. No other browsers installed. Just
started happening today - was ok yesterday. She says she changed nothing or
installed anything new.
Can someone give me detailed directions on how to fix? Thanks.
Finally, someone else with this issue! I've been researching this and haven't found an exact cause, but I do have a fix, that has worked on every single instance of this (over 20 people in my office so far).
Close out of Outlook and close out of Internet Explorer (or Firefox, whatever your browser is). Give it a minute to make sure the processes fully close down. Then re-open Outlook and try it again, and it should work.
Thanks. I had this happen twice to same user this month. Here's what fixed it
for her. Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs/Set Program Access and
Defaults/Custom/Choose a Default Web Browser - chose IE.

I just wanted to support the solution of going to control Panel, Add and Remove/ Set Access and defaults/ click on internet explorer specifically as default program. Finally I am rid of the general failure the URL was......
Is it possible that Microsoft is trying to sabotage their programs????In the last few weeks I have had a number of problems with ie8 and outlook 2007.
1 some programs won’t open in ie 8. (exp: usatoday) don’t know why, it tries to open it twice then says it can’t...I have to use chrome or Firefox to open it.
2 got the bad url message when I tried to click a hyperlink in outlook 2007.
Finally after web search I found a solution so that doesn't happen anymore.
3 got the parameter error and as of yet I still have not found a solution.I can't open 90% of hyperlinks in outlook???
Is someone from Firefox, chrome, apple running Microsoft??/
Get your act together or you are going to find a lot of us going to those other programs.
This has just happened in the last 2 weeks making me think it’s an update problem. IT IS FLUSTERATING!!!!!!!!!
I tried both of the above solutions and nether worked for me.
we have the same problem here today when a office 2007 user updated to IE8 - remove IE 8 from add and remove programs this will default back to IE6 - this should fix the issue. we are all working now.
hope this helps

The advice about going to The Control panel worked for me too.
The whole thing took one minute, and now at last I can click on
a web link anywhere on either an email, or a website, and it works ! Fantastic. Thanks for the advice. Robert
