I recently upgraded to Vista and Outlook 2007. I love them both, but
whenever a reminder pops up in Outlook, it crashes the program, giving the
error window "Microsoft Office Outlook has stopped working ... A problem
caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program."

I've seen the questions and solutions about cleaning up old reminders and
recurring reminders, and I've done all that. Problem continues. In fact, if
I enter a brand new simple appointment with a reminder, when it's time for
the reminder to pop up, Outlook will crash with the error message described
above.

How can I fix this?

Oh, more info about my setup. I'm using Exchange server through an ASP, and
they also run Blackberry enterprise server for me.

Hi Bob,

I was experiencing this exact same problem with Outlook on Office XP Pro. So I purchased Office 2007 Ultimate. Hoping it would go away. Same problem occurred.

As soon as a reminder popped up, outlook would crash. If I removed all reminders, it worked fine, but I need my reminders!!!

Finally, I fixed mine by disabling the chime that occurs when a reminder pops up.

In outlook 2007 it is:

Tools (menu)
Options (menu item)
Other (Tab)
Advanced Options (button)
Reminder Options (button)
Click the (box) "play reminder sound"
OK (button)
OK (button)
OK (button)

Hope this fixes your frustrations too!

Danny, you're a genius!

That was it. Once I turned off the reminder sound, the problem went away.
Unfortunately, I'd uninstalled Outlook 2007 and gone back to 2003, so I had
to reverse that. But all's good now.

Thank you very much!

Bob

That's an interesting find. Do you happen to have some exotic sound codecs
installed?

I have had the exact same problem with my outlook, one day it just started crashing when my reminders came up, which when you have 4/5 meeting reminders & 6-10 to do's a day is a real bitch.

I followed Danny's fix by removing the chime and it worked too, thanks Danny!

FYI, im on a dell D630 Windows Vista Business

I am running Outlook 2007 and Vista Ultimate 64x. I get the same crash with reminders. They will pop up and if I try to dismiss them, Outlook stops working. I tried disabling Reminders completly which would cause Outlook to crash anyway (when there was a reminder). I turned reminders back on but disabled the warning sound. No change.

Help!!!
