Apart from the standard Personal folders (pst file) I have defined
several other personal folders in Outlook 2003 to accommodate mail from
different mail accounts. Each personal folder has its own Deleted Items
folder.
I have set up Outlook to "Empty the Deleted Items folder when exiting"
via Options menu.

The problem is this: mail from the main "Personal Folders" personal
folder is deleted as a result of this setting. But mail in the "Deleted
Items" folder of the "XXX_Personal_Folder" or the "YYY_Personal_Folder"
is not. It just accumulates there and has to be deleted manually.

does anyone have a solution to this problem please ?

OK .. thanks ...
so it cannot be done by a standard Outlook setting.
I know zilch about VBA ...
2 questions:
1. Would you have a bit of stub VBA code to do this for the XXX_Personal
_FOlder ?
2. how do I plug a custom VBA script into Outlook so that it is
triggered at exit time ?
