If I click on a new imap mail header in Outlook, I get this message:
Can't open this item. The operation is not supported until the entire
message is downloaded. Download the message and try again.
It's not the server - I can download these just fine if I use Eudora or
another email client. Can anyone tell me how to "Download the message"?
Closing and opening Outlook doesn't help, rebooting the computer doesn't
help, clicking send/receive doesn't help.
Note: the messages are visible the next day - just not the day I need them!

I am having the same problem as described below. I have tried the suggested
solution, but Outlook won't allow me to check the option to "download the
entire message including attachments." Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I am having a similar issue, except that I had duplicate folders in my inbox. One showed only 3 unread messages, the other showed 22.
At the recommendation of Microsoft, I did a right click on the one with just 3 unread messages, and clicked "close". The duplicate folder went away, but now whenever I try to open any of the e-mail messages, I get that same error message.
That didn't work for me. This is happening to users sporadically throughout the office. We use Outlook 2003 as the Office Standard default email. These messages appear and we haven't found anyway to open them by using anything in the menus as suggested. Our help desk claims it is not the exchange server. Why does this happen and how can this be avoided? The lengths we have to go through to open an email is rediculous. Per our help desk, we need to use EmailXtender Search to view these items. This takes too long and is not 100%. Please help once and for all. What can be done? Is the problem via the exchange server?
Thank you for your help.
We use WinXP sp2 (all MS patches)
