I tried converting from pop3.email.msn.com to pop3.live.com, as directed in
an email from MSN in January, 2007. It doesn't work - a Network Password
popup box continuously reappears, and if I close it, the following error
message appears:
Task 'pop3.live.com - Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC92) :
'Your e-mail server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password
in your account properties. Under Tools, click E-mail accounts. The server
responded: '
So, did you verify the username and password in your account settings?

Did you read this: Hotmail POP3 Customers - Letter from MSN Support
If you're a Hotmail customer who received an email message from MSN Support
about "POP3 access to your Hotmail account" this was a legitimate message
from MSN Hotmail.
If you do not have a paid subscription to Hotmail, or if you do not use POP3
to access your Hotmail account, please disregard this letter. It may have
been sent to a larger audience than intended.
If you have a paid subscription to Hotmail and you that your account's POP3
access was grandfathered in (as Hotmail does not offer POP3 access to our
accounts anymore), you should make the suggested changes in the letter to
continue having POP3 access. If you get an error while trying to make the
changes, cancel the changes and try again in 24 hours. If you continue to
receive errors, please go to http://support.msn.com, select MSN Hotmail and
submit an eform, providing the details of the error you're receiving

l made the mistake of registering with msnhotmail when l first set up my pc, on the advice of a "professional" (!)
Since then any email l send via hotmail has been rejected as "connection to pop3.live.com server has failed."
Since opening a new account with another ISP l have had no problems with sending emails, except those in response to emails routed in through pop3.live.com
