Using Outlook, Office 2003. Am able to send but not receive e-mails.
Outlook send/receive progress window keeps showing "Task 161.58.116.112
Receiving Reported Error (0x8007007E): Unknown Error 0x8007007E".

Have you tried a simple detect and repair from the help menu? Also, did you
copy over a PST that was perhaps read only? Check the attributes of the file.
If you're using a PST, what is the size of the file and have you run a
ScanPST.exe against it to see if there are any issues?

The error number you posted is normally a "module not found" error (I've
seen it more frequently from Windows Update than Outlook) and I'm really not
sure what that means in regards to Outlook. Try to make sure you're running
the latest SP's and hotfixes, make sure you've also reapplied any SP's.

Kathleen: Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Detect and repair worked! I had
downloaded Office 2003 the day before and it was from that point that the
problem appeared. Again, thank you so much!

Not sure if this will work for others, but after days of searching, I finally
found a solution. My wife's workstation wouldn't send or receive email. It
kept throwing the 0x8007007E exception. We reinstalled Outlook, tried
registering about 10 different dlls we found mentioned on various sites, ran
the Detect and Repair procedure. Nothing worked.

Then, I found a post that mentioned Inetcomm.dll, so I figured I'd check for
that file. It was not in her System32 folder where I thought it should be,
but I found it in her hidden Windows\System32\dllcache folder, so I copied it
back to System32, went to the command prompt and ran the "regsvr32
inetcomm.dll" command, went immediately back into Outlook 2003, and the
send/receive worked like a charm. Didn't even have to reboot.

Hope this might help someone else who is having this problem.
