I have Office 2007 SP2. I closed an open Personal Folder PST (which was in the older Office 97-2002 format) in Outlook today and then closed Outlook. When I re-opened Outlook, I went to File > Open and it appears to successfully open the PST file in Outlook (no errors), but it in fact just jumps to the "Outlook Today" screen and all of my old custom PST folders are missing. Where are they? The PST is still near 2 GB, so I know the data is still there. I have already run the ScanPST.exe file against the PST file (it found and repaired 11 errors), but all I get whenever I open this old PST is the Outlook Today screen. I can see my contacts, calendar, Inbox, Drafts, Sent Items, etc., but none of my archived email or custom Personal Folders.
Now that my PST has "merged" with my Inbox, Calendar, Contacts, etc, I cannot close it again to try a clean File/Open or import. It tells me "This Personal Folders file (.pst) is already in use in the current profile" when I try to import it again.
I tried to open my Archive.PST and it goes straight to the Outlook Today also, with no visible change or appearance of any archived folders either (that file is 1.5 GB).
Just as a test, I opened a PST from 1998, and it opened just fine (I could see all of my old folders and files).
Any suggestions or ideas? I really need access to my older emails (some of them go back to 1995).
