Hi, i am facing couple of problems while accessing my IMAP account using
Outlook 2007
a ) The account keeps going offline very often and cant receive or send mails
b ) Sometimes when ever a new message arrives in my inbox I get an error
message saying " Cant display the items in the reading pane. Please open it
to read ". But when i try to double click and open nothing happens.
Need to know is there any problem in using IMAP account or if it is
something related to Outlook 2007. FYI i use a gmail server for my mails.
Thanks

Sounds more like a connectivity issue. I use gmail (and other IMAP servers)
with both Outlook 2003 and 2007. Outlook isn't the world's best IMAP
client, in my opinion, but I've never experienced what you describe.

I have the same symptom with Outlook 2007 configured as an IMAP client frequently going offline The IMAP mail server. The clent computer is in the same building, on the same LAN subnet and is connected directly via GbE to the same GbE switch as the mail server, so in my case I doubt it is a connectivity issue. I also have a notebook connected via 802.11n to a wireless access point that is connected via its builtin GbE switch to the same GbE switch as the mail server. It very rarely goes offline.
