When I try to open Outlook I get a message that says:

"Unable to open your default e-mail folders. The file ...\outlook.ost is not
an offiline folder file."

I'm not sure why it's trying to connect/open offline. How do I get out of
offline mode? Has anyone else seen this message.

You didn't mention if you where trying to work with a POP3/IMAP account or
Exchange, but in any event, you can use the mail applet in the control panel
to define a new mail profile and delete the old one.

Hi Candace,

I am currently suffering the same problem with 2 additional address which I have added to Outlook.
Did you get to the bottom of this problem. If so could you forward me any emails which helped you out.

Thanks,
Johnny

1 Go to your control Panel

2 User Accounts & Settings

3 Select the mail Icon

4 Select E-Mail Accounts, under email accounts you will probably see an account named Microsoft Exchange (might be another name depending how it was set up)

5 Double click

6 Check setting, then select "more settings" A common problem is in the Connection tab, select Microsoft Exchange using HTTP these hit the setting tab, verify URL address is correct hit ok

7 Then in the same tab where you double click Microsoft Exchange step 2, select Data Files, select the file that was giving error and double click, the settings should be the same as listed above.

If you are setting up for first time you might want to set up a new Personal folder.

Good Luck
