In the toolbar at the top of the page, click on Tools, Options, then the
Security tab. Click on the Change Automatic Download settings in the Download
Pictures section. Then uncheck the first checkbox on the page. That should
solve the problem.

of any kind in emails. I have even ran a repair install and a complete
uninstall reinstall of Office 2007 Enterprise. I am using gmail as my email
provider.

Ever since getting my new laptop with Vista and Outlook 2007,
pictures/graphics won't show up in my incoming messages. Referring to the
post below, I am looking at it right now, and that box is NOT checked. I am
also NOT getting a red "X." I am getting a box shaped/sized like the graphic
or photo... but it's blank inside the box. Also, I have always sent email
with my photos embedded inside, by using the "Insert Photo" command. When I
do that, the pictures also do not show. There is an empty box.

the only way I can see the photo is to PRINT PREVIEW. There they are,
intact.

What is wrong???

I tried this and my html messages still open only in plain text. I had this
problem with Windows XP SP2 and Outlook 2003 (I tried to resolve it without
success then). I just bought a new computer with Vista and have Outlook 2007
and still have the same problem. I transferred my settings from my old
computer and think there must be something in the settings. I can open the
same emails in html at work with Windows 98 and Outlook 97!

Examined the Reg entries and do not see any reference to "Block http images".
Does this entry appear at all times, or only if certain perferences are
selected? Cannot see any downloaded images in incoming emails noted with
http references.

You don't "find" the registry. Click Start and enter "regedit" in the
Search box. Press Enter. When the Registry Editor opens, click the plus
sign to the left of My Computer to expand it. Click the plus to the left of
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER" (HKCU) and expand it. Click the plus to the left of
Software to expand it. Click the plus to the left of Microsoft to expland
it. Click the plus to the left of Office to expand it. Click the plus to
the left of 12.0 to expand it. Click on Common and in the right-hand pane
you should see, among the values there, the key BlockHTTPImages. If you see
it, double-click it and change the value from one to zero. If it's not
there, right-click on a blank area of the right pane and choose New, then
DWORD Value. For the keyname, enter BlockedHTTPImages and click OK. Click
OK and exit the registry editor. See this:

When you are in an open message, click the arrow pointed down on the quick
access toolbar. Scroll down to More Commands. In the left column, select
Advanced. Scroll down to the Display email contents section. Uncheck the box
for Show picture placeholders. Then click OK down at the bottom.

I hope this helps, I just had the same problem. I didn't have the red "X"
either, but I could look a the pictures when I did a print preview.

Good Luck!!

This does NOT work, I've tried this again and again and again including
reboots.

The above "More Commands only give you the red X.

I've just done the Registry fix and this DOES work.
